Some lessons are hard-fought, and some come with ease and flow. I’ve been in this ease and flow space for a while, but every so often, a lesson will knock me right on down. The lesson is often love.
I recently wrote someone a beautiful, heartfelt note, and not only did they not say thank you, they didn’t even acknowledge that it was received. Now, you might be thinking (because I gaslit myself at first too), did you do it for the thanks, or did you do it from the heart? If you are new here, hi, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Alicia Crysta Easter, also known as ACE, and everything, and I do mean everything, I do from the heart. What happened in their instance is that the person didn’t acknowledge the note, but also proceeded to respond to me elsewhere and send me things to share on their behalf. I felt some type of way!
My teacher, Jennifer Pastiloff, said, “Be a human, thank you,” and that has stayed with me for the last 14 years of knowing her. Saying “thank you” is too often lost in assumptions and implications instead of being said out loud. Why was it so hard for the person to say thank you and/or acknowledge my words?
According to a New York Post article written in 2023, the average American says “thank you” about six times a day, which averages out to be 2200 times a year. I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t sound like nearly enough, considering how many mics each person has access to in this day and time.
Allow me a mini digression.
All I want to do is love and be loved for who I am, not who I think I should be, and not according to anyone’s expectations of me. I’m a lover…have been in my lover girl era, so let’s love and give thanks! I used to not ask for a lot, and they left me with…you guessed it, very little. That’s done!
It had me thinking about how, where, and with whom I share my time. Let me tell you something: if I am sharing my time, energy, conversation, and vibes with you on an intimate level, your life will be changed. I’m not even saying that with ego, trust, I am simply stating facts. I knew after this exchange, I had to withdraw and call all my energy back from where it’d leaked. Even so, I, being a hard-headed, soft-behind kid, knew I learned most lessons the hard way. In the spirit of thanks, the hard way doesn’t take as long to land as it used to — thank God.
As I mentioned before, I’ve been in my lover girl era, but it’s time to let her go. I fall in love almost as fast as I change my clothes, and I love that for me. I love life! It’s not always romantic, especially lately, but I’m being seen, loved, supported, and cherished in my beautiful village of friends. Lover Girl era ACE isn’t going anywhere. Alternatively, few and far between humans will get to experience her on a deep level because she’s tired of her heart being used like a coaster. She’s done with the distractions disguised as soul connections. She’s over giving her all and receiving crumbs in return. Finally, she’s sick and tired of being sick and tired and will now drop entirely into her bag of abundance, joy, creativity, love, and God’s plan for her life.
I want what God wants for me.
As I may have mentioned in a few Substacks back, I had a beautiful epiphany — I am filled with elder wisdom and have so much more life to live. Life is so beautiful, and each day we wake up, we have a clean slate to begin again.
First, I want to say thank you for being here and reading this far. My prayer for you is this: Remember who you are, and who you are is more than enough. Go where you are loved, taught, and celebrated, not tolerated. There’s too much love out there for you to be left behind and playing second fiddle.
Have the best day, friends!
With love,
Your favorite Ram
