A puddle… its existence is because water collects, and it brings the smallest of the kiddos and the freest adult a lot of joy. Puddles.
Do y’all remember the show, ‘The Secret World of Alex Mack’? It was about a girl named Alex Mack who, “after being splashed with an experimental chemical, finds she has uncanny new powers, such as the ability to shoot electricity from her fingertips and morph into a blob of goo.” When I was a kid, I thought it was the coolest thing ever to morph into a puddle and time-travel. Like hello, I would like to have been a puddle a few times in my life…navigating here and there and everywhere.
Anyway, lately I have been the quietest I have been in quite some time. Observing the throws of life and media without becoming too consumed by it all. Really softening the edges of my existence and learning so much about myself along the way, and feeling like a puddle while in the midst of navigating grief, I never gave myself a long time ago.
I very rarely have days off, off, and any entrepreneur knows exactly what I mean when I say, off off. Well, this weekend was no different, except it was light enough for me to have breakfast with a girlfriend on Saturday and really hang with her all day. I had to run a few errands and was interviewed for an on-demand virtual offering called Divorce to Destiny: A Renaissance Women's Retreat, which was really fun. I have never been married, but I was in a long-term relationship that ended in an engagement I broke off a while ago. I was able to talk about turning the pain from that experience into the medicine I was used to fuel who I have become today. It will be available on demand soon, and you can sign up here to be the first to know. Afterwards, we made some food and watched a movie, and it was the perfect Saturday. I left her house and went to meet up with friends for what was the cutest secret underground party, full of great music, fun costumes, and amazing vibes. What a day!
That leads me to Sunday, the best day of the week; it doesn’t matter what I have going on —Sundays are just soft, sacred, fun, and all-around days for letting the unexpected bloom. And this particular Sunday lends itself to a day of community, movement, ocean, work, food, and three-hour brunches without bottomless mimosas —just endless storytelling, fluffy pancakes, and great conversation. I learned so very much about lineage, purpose-driven lives, liberations, and staying BRAVE in your pursuit of JOY!
The moments from this weekend can be encapsulated into one word: kindness. Be kind to yourself and to others. Learn from three-hour brunch conversations with new friends and listen more than you ever have before. That’s kindness! Be kind to your story and what it took for you to get to where you are today. Be kind to the journey ahead because some of us are operating in the true unknown. Be. Kind.
Bringing it home with The Secret World of Alex Mack. She gained this superpower by accident, and over time, she learned to work with her powers rather than against them. It made me think about the stage of my life I'm in, where I have these powers (sorry to report I can't turn into a puddle yet). Still, I am tapping deeper into the ones strengthened by my being in my quiet, suburban sabbatical era and navigating new downloads and information along the way. Working with these powers, not against them, and enhancing my kindness for myself along the way. I love it here, and I am grateful to remain curious and look forward to an exciting week ahead.
Stay curious, collected, messy, and brave through it all, friend.
With love,
Your Favorite Ram
