It’s Juneteenth, and instead of having the entire day off to celebrate freedom, I am preparing for a day to celebrate joy. JOY in the work I get to do, starting with teaching yoga at a preschool, being interviewed on The Beautiful Grit Podcast, a private client yoga/life coaching session, a haircut by the best of the best, KG Supastar, and randomly enough, an invite to sit in a company suite at the Post Malone concert. All in a day's work over here, but honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Tuesday and Wednesday of this week I was in Lake Arrowhead, about two hours from LA, staying at Emerald Lake House with this fantastic brand, Ursa Major, who’ve I have been in partnership with for the last eight months. They invited an intimate group of ladies to experience a natural reset as part of their product relaunch, and it could not have been more timely.
I kicked off the month of June on the Trauma Unit Retreat created by DJ Trauma in Jamaica, and it set the stage for the rest of my summer. It changed my life! It catapulted me into trusting my sense of self more than ever and also trusting whatever I am doing, to keep doing it, especially since it’s in alignment with your mission, vision, and purpose in life. Your life only has to make sense to you. Being myself allowed me to participate in this fantastic retreat and bring my gifts to all those who attended. God is good! More on this in my next Substack!
Circling back to the Lake… there was a point on the last day when one of our amazing hosts made us lunch, including some yummy sandwiches, lettuce cups, etc. It was perfect. One of the ladies in attendance got in a float and took her lunch plate with her, and I said to myself, I am going to join her…and did! See photo below. It was the best…we were floating around in the lake eating yummy food, and I was drinking a glass of rosé. I’m sorry, what, what is this life I have manifested, prayed, and dreamt of for myself again? Again…God is good
The entire experience, from arrival to departure, left me in a state of pure gratitude, and it was the same energy I felt in Jamaica. Grateful for this life!
I’ll end today’s note with this: the importance of being who you are will carry your name into rooms and situations you might not be aware of for a while. However, when you are called and it’s time for you to rise, you won’t have to worry about whether you are ready because you are…the stage has been set for you, and your name has already been assigned, so be great, thrive, and be your most authentically brave you.
Stay Brave in your pursuit of JOY!
With love, from a float with cup holders that nestles a wine glass perfectly,
