I had this thought while driving to teach a yoga class one Sunday afternoon, “Why’d he bother me?” The idea was sparked as I was listening to the audiobook, Mother Hunger, and attachment style was mentioned. In all the work I’m doing on and for myself, I still haven’t quite nailed down my attachment style.
Back to, “why’d he bother me,” it was on a Sunday when I was minding my business and had essentially sworn off the idea of there being a man for me in this lifetime, where this thought arrived. Why’d he text me, “ACE,” and I wrote back, “his name.” He asked me, “WYA,” and I didn’t answer immediately. He then texted, “Manuela in an hour,” to which I immediately replied, “Yes!” He said, “2 pm,” to which I countered, “2:15 pm.” He said, “ok.”
Why’d he text me that day, I’ll still never know, and why was it easy for me to be swayed out of my bed, out of my robe, shower, and throw away the food I’d just ordered from Goop Kitchen because Manuela overruled everything.
I’d said to myself, as I was getting ready, this will be a chill meal like all the other ones had been with him, and it will be a lovely time because things have always been enjoyable with him, and I don’t see that changing today…until it did.
